A £14 million leisure facility featuring a competition swimming pool and a ten-pin bowling alley will be developed in Denton, Tameside.
Denton Wellness Centre has been given the green light, and is also set to include a learner pool, spa area and fitness suite for the town.
Network Space is the developer behind the scheme, which is being delivered for Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) and will be managed by the local authority’s leisure operator.
Pozzoni Architecture has designed the building, which will also include meeting rooms, a children’s soft play area and multi-use studio spaces among its features.
Willmott Dixon has been appointed for the construction, which is expected to start on-site later this year and take 15 months.
Stephen Barnes, managing director of development at Network Space, says: “Working closely with Tameside MBC, Active Tameside and Pozzoni, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that the building meets the needs of the local community, where inclusion is key.”
