BrightHouse has announced it’s shutting 30 shops across the UK including three here in the North West.
The weekly payment retailer, which sells a range of household items, recently reported pre-tax losses of £22.1 million.
In Southport, the BrightHouse on Eastbank Street is to close on 23 March.
The branch is located near to the town’s HMV store which shut earlier this week following the company’s takeover by Canada’s Sunrise Records.
BrightHouse outlets in Eccles (Eccles Shopping Centre) and Macclesfield (Grosvenor Shopping Centre) are both set to close on 30 March.
A spokesperson for BrightHouse says: “We have taken the very difficult decision to close 30 stores in the next two months.
“All employees affected by our proposals have been informed. We are working to redeploy as many people as possible into alternative roles, but redundancies will be inevitable.
“We will be speaking to all customers affected by the store closures and either transferring them to another local store or serving them online.”
