Halton businesses are being encouraged to help “create more community spirit” in the area by taking part in the council’s ‘Chatty Chairs’ initiative.
The project is aiming to create places where people can sit and talk in shopping areas, cafés and other public spaces.
Halton Borough Council’s Community Connectors are calling on businesses and establishments to sign up and set out their own Chatty Chairs, which enable members of the community to sit down and show they are happy to be joined for a chat by passers-by.
Halton Borough Council’s executive board member for health and wellbeing, Councillor Marie Wright, says: “The scheme has been set up to help to tackle social isolation and create more community spirit here in Halton; helping people to get to know others in their community.
“We welcome anyone to take a seat at our Chatty Chairs, and we are also looking for new businesses and establishments in Halton who want to sign up and set up their own Charry Chairs. Please contact us for a free set up pack. ”
