Contractor sought for Wirral office scheme

A contractor is being sought for a 20,000 sq ft office scheme in Birkenhead aimed at the offshore wind energy sector.

Capital & Centric has secured nearly £895,000 from the Regional Growth Fund (RDF) to build the office and warehouse units on the one acre brownfield site in Wirral.

The developer is now seeking a contractor to complete the work and has set a deadline of 19 September for applications. Work on the site is expected to begin in November 2014 after planning permission for the site was granted in August.

Once complete the scheme will offer office space of between 3,000 and 20,000 sq ft, which will be marketed by joint agents CBRE and B8. SixTwo Architects has designed the building with a striking concept that includes light, airy units to allow as much light as possible in and cut energy bills for occupiers.

Capital & Centric is currently developing two sites in Liverpool; the Littlewoods Bunker building and No 12 Tithebarn in the city centre. It has also completed 80,000 sq ft of industrial space in Estuary Banks, Speke, as well as 60,000 sq ft at Speke Business Park. The Hangar, also in Speke, will start on site in November.
