A freight forwarding and warehousing firm is setting up a new distribution centre at Orbit Developments’ M58 Skelmersdale site.
UKI Express Transport Ltd has taken 100,427 sq ft of space at the industrial scheme, citing its access to air, road and sea transport links as an attraction.
Peter Gummerson, managing director of the company which carries more than 1,500 separate consignments each day through the UK, says: “This move was imperative for our continued growth and in order to support our large portfolio of clients who currently ship in excess of 190,000 tonnes per year in to and around the United Kingdom.
“We believe due to the building’s location and the quality of the facility, we can remain competitive and still offer more of our high quality services to new and existing clients.”
Orbit Developments’ divisional director for Merseyside, Dennis Dwyer, adds: “This is a significant letting for the site and demonstrates that the commercial market for units of this size is alive and kicking.”
Orbit Developments owns M58 Skelmersdale and CBRE and Knight Frank are joint agents for the scheme.
