Recommerce giant musicMagpie has set up a new office in Stockport.
The growing firm will relocate 50 members of staff from its current headquarters to the Stockport Exchange base and it aims to expand its Greater Manchester workforce over the coming months.
The musicMagpie deal sees Stockport Exchange’s offices reach full occupancy six months after development work was completed, with bus operator Stagecoach recently confirming plans to move 200 jobs to the site by the end of the year.
Its ground floor commercial space at the scheme is also fully let, with Sainsbury’s Local having opened there and coffee brand Cafelito due to launch an outlet soon.
A 115-bed Holiday Inn Express is also operating at the development, which is a joint venture between Muse Developments and Stockport Council as part of the £1 billion Investing in Stockport initiative.
Steve Oliver, CEO and co-Founder at musicMagpie, says: “For us, moving to Stockport Exchange is about the future growth of our business. We’ve outgrown our existing offices and to keep up with the rapid pace of growth of both buying and selling in the UK and US, we need to expand.
“Both myself and the business are Stockport born and bred and we have an amazing working and family culture at Magpie that will only be improved by having a first class working environment at Stockport Exchange.
“Its excellent location and transport links to Manchester and London will help us massively with recruitment and its close proximity to the airport will be key as we continue to grow our US business.”
