More than 28,000 sq ft of Manchester’s City Tower has been let following the completion of a major refurbishment at the site.
The city centre building’s owner, Schroder Real Estate Investment Management, has created 36,000 sq ft of office space across four floors and repositioned the ground floor reception and lift lobbies to support 3,000 people working there.
International company Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited currently occupies 18,000 sq ft of space across the fourth floor of the tower and has signed up to a 10-year lease extension.
The deal follows the recent 9,000 sq ft letting to office space provider iHub, which has taken the entire 20th floor of City Tower in a 10-year deal.
Schroders has also agreed a new five-year lease for 1,317 sq ft of space on the 26th floor for Sonoco, a global provider of packaging products and services.
Meanwhile, lease extensions also come from architecture practice Sheppard Robson, which has signed up for a further 10 years at City Tower; and customer science company Dunnhumby, which has agreed a five-year lease extension.
Tom Newman, investment manager at Schroder Real Estate, which acquired City Tower in 2014, says there is “good interest in the remaining office space” at the building.
He adds: “City Tower is a long term hold for Schroders and we will continue to maximise the potential for the estate both within the buildings and in the wider realm.
“This is consistent with our strategy to focus on winning cities and towns, meaning those with a competitive advantage in terms of employment, population growth, well developed infrastructure, and, crucially, places where people want to live and work.”
Colliers International and CBRE act as joint leasing advisers to Schroders.
