Plans for a new 212,000 sq ft logistics development at Dunnings Bridge Road in Liverpool have been revealed.
Known as Mersey Reach, the proposed scheme could be built on the former Peerless refinery site which has lain derelict for over 20 years.
Chancerygate is behind the plans which include five separate self-contained industrial and logistics units ranging from 11,500 sq ft to 90,000 sq ft.
Subject to planning consent, a 36,000 sq ft unit has been pre-let to Grafton Group Plc to trade as a Selco Builders Warehouse.
In addition to this, a two-acre plot on the front of the site has been pre-sold to Euro Garages which plans to build a petrol filling station as well as a drive-thru Starbucks coffee store.
Swedish retail giant IKEA previously submitted two planning applications for a new superstore on the 13.5-acre site in 2003 and 2004 respectively, both of which were withdrawn in 2005.
Mike Walker, development director for Chancerygate in the North West says: “We believe that the new Liverpool2 deep-water port will create extra demand in the area for modern logistics buildings suited to the needs of 21st century occupiers.
“The two occupiers we have already secured will create 130 new jobs and we anticipate that the scheme as a whole could ultimately provide over 375 jobs, which should come mainly from the immediate surrounding area.”
