Work will begin this month on a new 111,287 sq ft speculative distribution facility in Crewe following the appointment of a contractor.
The £5 million project is set to transform a six-acre plot on Weston Road with Caddick Construction taking on the scheme.
The plot for the development, which will be known as Q110, forms part of a larger 12-acre site which was acquired by US-based Cabot Properties with Quorum Estates in 2017.
Completion is expected in the third quarter of 2018 and the space will accommodate 20 HGV trailers, 10 dock level loading bays and extensive car parking along with 7,437 sq ft of offices.
The development is expected to satisfy further demand after an existing 92,000 sq ft building at the site was let to Warehouse One on completion of the purchase.
Rob Taylor, partner and head of North West logistics and industrial at Knight Frank, which is a joint letting agent alongside Legat Owen, says: “With the improved infrastructure links to the M6 motorway that have been completed in the last 12 to 18 months, allied to the strong occupational story and the future HS2 development coming to the town, Q110 will be able to take advantage of all of these ingredients and deliver a successful industrial development.”
