Unused office space on Castle Street in Liverpool could be transformed into eight apartments under new plans.
Proposals show the new flats would occupy the upper-floors above Boots next door to Veeno wine bar and Sainsbury’s Local on the prominent city centre street.
According to a planning application submitted by the JSM Company Group, the apartments would “cater for individuals and couples looking to live within a culturally significant part of Liverpool city centre” and would consist of seven one-bedroom units and a single two-bedroom flat.
If approved, the development would include new build works to the rear of the building on top of the existing flat roof at third floor level.
A document included with the planning application adds: “Affordability is an increasing problem across the area and a growing issue creating specific difficulties for the population.
“The application supports the need for varying house types to sustain population levels and to address the issues of urban density.
“The development can contribute to the identified regeneration programmes of the area and reduce the worsening vacancy rates of the properties.
“The residential units will cater for individuals and couples looking to live within a culturally significant part of Liverpool city centre.”
